Yellow Oilskin 'Speedway' Cape Belstaff made for both cyclists and motor sport event spectators. It fastens at the neck placket with two brass poppers with another popper on the collar to allow the wearer to close the collar when in standing and an angled placket tab allows for further protection from the rain. It has two heat sealed side seams and one central seam that runs down from the front placket. It has a curved hem and features three internal plastic tabs at waist height that had ties threaded through them to allow the wearer to draw the cape closer to the body.

SPEEDWAY CAPE
Belstaff
1950-1959

Founded in 1924, Belstaff was the first company to use wax cotton in the manufacturing of waterproof clothing for motorcyclists. The first speedway meeting in Britain took place in 1928 and quickly became a popular spectator sport, and this oilskin speedway cape is designed for both motorcyclists and event spectators.
